The April terror attack in Pahalgam served as a critical inflection point for Kashmiri society. This comprehensive report analyzes the unprecedented sociological response to the attack. Unlike previous decades where fear dictated public behavior, the local Kashmiri populace explicitly refused to participate in the funerals of the terrorists, denying them social sanction. Instead, the community organized peace marches and Tiranga Yatras. The report argues that terrorism in Kashmir is experiencing a terminal existential crisis due to the total collapse of local civilian support, and outlines the absolute necessity of maintaining a “Zero-Tolerance” security policy coupled with sustained socio-cultural engagements.
